Celebrating the Work of Casualties Union
In this film, we proudly highlight the exceptional work carried out by the charity Casualties Union. Because realistic training plays such an important role in preparing first aiders, we rely heavily on their expertise to bring accident simulations to life. Moreover, by introducing Casualties Union in the very first moments of the film, we aim to show just how valuable their contribution is to effective first aid education.
Why Realistic Training Matters
We used Casualties Union for an accident simulation day that we organised for a client, as well as for several of our training videos. Their team excels at creating highly realistic accident scenes, ranging from minor injuries to catastrophic trauma. Additionally, they combine professional makeup, simulated wounds, and convincing acting to replicate the chaos and pressure of real emergencies.
Instead of simply showing artificial wounds, they fully act out the injury, offering a far more immersive and emotionally engaging experience. As a result, first aiders do not just learn the theory—they experience a situation that mirrors real life, helping them build confidence long before they face an actual emergency.
How Casualties Union Enhances Learning
Many students feel uncomfortable role-playing injuries during a course. Therefore, using high-quality simulation videos helps them understand the scenario without feeling self-conscious. Furthermore, it significantly improves the quality of training because students can clearly see how injuries look, how casualties behave, and how responders should react.
- More realistic preparation: Students visualise what real accidents may look like.
- Better emotional readiness: They experience shouting, panic, and pain in a controlled setting.
- Improved retention: Learners remember realistic scenarios far more effectively than theoretical descriptions.
How We Use These Simulations at ProTrainings
Our instructors use the simulation videos to set the scene before students practise treatments in the classroom. After watching the incident unfold, learners then apply first aid to similar injuries, which creates a hands-on, immersive experience. Additionally, we use films showing how a first aider responded to the accident so that students can analyse the actions taken, discuss alternative approaches, and explore the emotional challenges involved when casualties are frightened, shouting, or in pain.
