Trauma Dressings

Trauma dressings are something that First aiders may not have much experience with as theya are not something that is included in most first aid kits.  They are used where serious injury has occurred and a substantial dressing is needed to stop the blood flow.  Care has to be taken as they can hold up to half a litre of blood so if two dressings are applied the patient may be in stage 2 shock and the blood flow has not been stopped.

Direct pressure is vital and you should also consider the use of tourniquets and or Haemostatic dressings.

New Tourniquet and Haemostatic video online course now available. Call ProTrainings on 01206 805359 for more details.
