Why keep talking to a Patient?

When dealing with any first aid emergency, it is important to talk to the patient so that they are reassured and it is also a good way of you gaining information about what happened  and how they have been affected. Communication increases trust between you and the patient and sometimes talking to them is all you can do to help them.  Communication skills are not something that you can be taught easily but a bit of consideration and respect will set you off in the right direction to support a person in need.  When the Paramedics arrive, the information you have gained will help them in deciding the correct plan of action to proceed.
